CGI Prayer Connect June 2013
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.”
As CGI it is part of our DNA to be on the front foot, to be in the advance guard. We are called to step out, to be part of the dawn chorus. To be those who start to sing when it is still dark, to call in the dawn. (Pete & Nicki Sims Pastors CGC Chelmsford)
We are surrounded by need yet are a part of God’s plan to introduce Him to people who don’t know, but so desperately need Him. To be part of the solution for whatever is going on in the community that God has placed us. Whether it’s for those who are homeless, those in debt, those who feel they are on the margins of society or the old, the young and everyone in between.
A huge task, some would say impossible! But we are called to the impossible, to put our trust in God, that He will rock up because as we reach into our communities the need is greater than all of our combined resources.
If we lean on our own understanding, on what we can do, on what we think needs to be done, we will always fall short.
As Francis Chan says:
“But God doesn't call us to be comfortable. He calls us to trust Him so completely that we are unafraid to put ourselves in situations where we will be in trouble if He doesn't come through.” ? Francis Chan, founding pastor of Cornerstone Church, Sim Valley, California
Things have been hotting up for us as a network and we have heard of many situations, throughout the network, where it would be easy and understandable to say enough is enough. But often it is at these times when we are on the cusp of breakthrough. We worship the Lord of the breakthrough!!
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is in the LORD.”
As CGI there are values we all share and we feel that there are a number of them that would be really good to pray through this month as we press on and through.
Speak life ( Ezekiel 37) - pray life into the dry bones, into the situations that seem impossible for God; He has called us to be part of the solution.
Can do mentality – when everyone is talking about recession and pulling
back, pray that we will be a people who keep pushing, keep taking ground,
trusting that when God calls us He WILL make a way!
Risk taking – when everyone else is crammed tight in the boat, pray that we will get out and walk on the water. If it’s possible we don’t need God, for the impossible we know we cannot do it but we trust that He is there waiting for us!
Resilience – Life happens, we won’t always get it right and God never
promises it will be easy but we need to build up 'Pushthroughitiveness'.
Without it we will never fully realise the call on us as individuals, as churches or as a network and the enemy will be a whooping and a hollering with joy!
But he’s a loser! We have the victory in Christ although it doesn’t always feel like it in the thick of the battle.
As we go through June lets pray that we will see breakthrough and that lives and situations will be changed because we carry the kingdom with us.
